The scholarship is through the First State Community Bank for students going into Education or a business field through a 2 or 4-year institution. Reside in a county where an FSCB location exists or a county that is considered to be in the immediate trade area of an FSCB location.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Complete the Scholarship application and obtain a written recommendation/referral from a teacher.
Submit the completed application and a signed/sealed letter of recommendation from a teacher/guidance counselor/school administrator to their high school counselor by February 3rd.
Each FSCB market, we are part of the Central Missouri Market out of Columbia, will receive the completed applications from the schools in their area for review.
Semifinalists will be contacted via email on or before February 14th with instructions on how to complete a series of essay questions. Essay questions are developed and administered on Qualtrics software. Deadline to complete essay questions: February 28th.
o Four finalists will be notified no later than March 19th and asked to come to Farmington for a personal interview on April 2nd. Travel expenses have been reimbursed in past years for the applicants determined by estimating the number of miles traveled by the applicant to Farmington multiplied by the current IRS mileage rate. At the end of the interview, each finalist will be asked the same final question involving an ethical scenario.
This is a $5000 scholarship, paid in $2500 increments directly to the school, over a two year period for the recipient. An alternate will be awarded $1250.
